Electronic Materials Office Altar II Mechanical Keyboard
The Altar II is a 75% mechanical keyboard built around a 4.75 mm 6061 aluminum chassis, a detachable M-Dial, and a Mac-first layout. It prioritizes tactile feedback, haptic notifications, and a low wrist angle over decorative styling.
The keyboard uses a custom dual-steel-arm scissor switch with 40 gf actuation, housed in a monobloc aluminum frame with a silicone membrane and TPU footpad. A magnetically attached M-Dial provides volume and media control; its behavior is configurable in a native macOS companion app. Harmonic Synthesiser produces haptic feedback for system events, while NiteLite provides amber-red backlighting in low ambient light. Battery life is rated up to 30 days, with fast charging claimed to restore roughly two days of use in two minutes. Connectivity includes two Bluetooth 5.0 LE channels and USB-C. The chassis is machined from a single block of aluminum, and the plastic parts use at least 50% recycled content; packaging is plastic-free. The device is currently available only by refundable $1 reservation ahead of a November 2026 Kickstarter launch at $249, with a future list price of $349.
